Need Help For a Friend
« on: 04 August 2004, 09:42 »
A friend of mine wants to get into the Dubscene, Untill now hes been driving Fiestas and i think ive finally shown him the light. However there is one problem, His budget is about ?1,000 and hes interested in a Mk1 or Mk2, BUT due to a childhood problem he has metal joints in his left leg, Meaning he cannot drive a manual.

Does anyone know if Mk1 or Mk2 golfs where ever produced in automatic models, Perticually GTIs?

GTi's were not produced with Auto boxes, well deffo not in this country, not sure about anywhere else.
Best bet would be to go for a 1.8GL, 90bhp carb engine.

Yeah, my brother used to have a 1.6 driver auto!

Used to be able to get 70mph out of the first gear when you did that manual select thingy, probably why it died shhortly after him discovering that ::)

The 1.8 driver is the carb engine as well.
There are plenty 1.8 carb engined golfs with auto boxes on them out there  :D

A VR6 isn't a way of life, it's just a car.
