RCA advise

i have made a bit of a cock up on my head unit choice..
i didnt take into consideration how many channels i would be running. the head unit only has one pre out and i need to run six (two of them are for subs and the other four are for the door speakers).
i was wondering wether low level converters were any good?.. i have never actually used them and cant see them being all that good as they are converting a high signal back down only for it to be amplified again????....
am i right in thinking that i could solder on some jumpers onto the head units pre amp stage so make my own pre outs?.
also where could i get a schematic diagram?.

If you only have 1x pre-out its not the end of the world, its still stereo. I'm suprised your amp can't just take stereo in to output to mutliple channels. Failing that, just use a Y splitter and bring up the gain to suit.

If you can follow the circuit traces in the HU then maybe - but its not something I would try.

i would try it.. lol but then i`m not scared of a soldering iron and some jumper wires...
the amp i have to run the subs atm (V12) has daisy chain capablitys (to loop to another amp, i have just gone out and bought to run the components)..  but i want to be able to use the fader on the HU and have adjustable subwoofer channels the higher spec models have.
im not too sure if the curcuit board in my HU is very simular to the next model up (which has 3 pre outs) so i can locate where they should be and just solder them where the next model up has them " if ya get me"..

Yeah I understand, you're hoping the boards are the same, just that the extra phono's aren't attached ;)

You could always just buy a cheap EQ off the bay that splits an output into multiples whilst still maintaining 0.4v. Then you'll have the ability to adjust levels and a bit more ;)

But if it were me and I really wanted to balance the channels properly, I would just sell the HU and buy one that actually supports it natively - its much more convinient.

you got it mate, although i dont really want to sell this HU, i have only just bought it and dont really have the cash to splash on a new one.
i`ll have a look for an equiliser on the bay.
cheers.

I have never seen a HU with 6 pre-outs??? Grundig/Philips/Blaupunkt do have old HU with six of them.

Do you mean 3 sets? (3 Pre-outs)

Ahhh sorry got it now.

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/vibe-deltabox-p-4585.html??

It will be a non fading set up.

Other than that use the Speaker - RCA adaptor.  Unless you want to solder stuff onto your HU.
