I have a different outlook

OK - the car has some damage. BUT it was taken with the keys (so good). I would insist that the insurance get the car fixed to the condition it was prior to the theft. ALSO replace the clutch and gearbox.
If you want, get the car hooked up to a dealer's computer to check the ECU logs - this will tell you quite quickly if the car has been thraped.
At let's not forget, there is NO difference between you thraping it and somebody else (IIRC the car was bought as a used example anyway, so Lord knows how the previous owner treated it

)
Get it valeted and it will be like new (and slightly better - you'll have new bits on it!!

All under their own warranty)
Remember, you've paid a darn big premium for both the car and the insurance. Use it. Enjoy it.
That's what I would do anyway

Sod all this selling it malarky - you wouldn't do it with your house if you got burgled would you? You get it cleaned/repaired & items replaced
