EA07OSY - Car found tonight
« on: 23 April 2009, 23:51 »
Just had the phone call my car has now been recovered.

1st comments from the police are that it has a flat tyre and front end damage..... not to mention knackered clutch, gearbox a mess, suspension in bits as i imagine.

WHAT DO I DO NOW????..... its not my car anymore its going to be registered stolen recovered and i dont imagine i am really going to want to keep it.

I was going to say good news but on reflection maybe not. I hope your insurance pays out a good price, then you can move on and put this incident behind you.

They wont payout mate, damage will not be over 15k at all so they will repair it

I really dont know, she is flipping about having it anywhere near the house as 'they' will come back.

I need opinions, do i keep or trade? realistically if im lucky trade will be 14k (glass as a guide) and it would have to be a GTI - was looking at 130 m sports but its then the problem of putting money to it that i dont have.

If i keep could i be settled????

Has anyone been in this situation?

Tricky one.

Personally I would get it repaired and try and flog it - you know that everytime you look at it or drive it it will bring back the memories of what happened to it.

Maybe once you see it again it will be easier to make a decision.

I would wait until the insurance team have gone over it. A couple more damaged panels can mean the cost of repair starts to get quite high very quickly.

I would try to make sure you are there when they do assess the damage also and point out every little thing that needs repairing.

Atleast you know where she is now  Any joy in catching the dirty b******s that stole it???

as far as i know, when it comes to a stolen recovered car, you can refuse to have it back, for the reasons stated above, and also the fact that your not going to be happy with it, as alot of work will be involved

also if you do keep the car and they repair it, it wont be listed stolen recovered, shouldnt go under any cat e.g cat d etc...

glad you've got the car back, but its a real pity about whats happened, some one really needs to put a stop to these car jackings
