mk2 16V missfire
« on: 16 April 2009, 20:54 »
Right Ive got a bit of an annoying miss-fire on my Greg valver, It comes in at around 3000RPM but sometimes sooner especially under heavy acceleration.

Ive changed the plugs, dizzy cap, rotor arm, coil and fuel lifter. Checked the timing, vac hoses, fuel pressure at the metering head and I'm not sure what to do next.

Any one got the magic answer?

I want to fit an ABF but running Kjet so id like to get this sorted.

Cheers

tci-h would be next on the list, the wee 7 pin thing on top of the ignition controller mounting bracket :)
check the connector to the ignition contrreoller for corrosion, and look at the vacuum connection to it. also maybe try another fuel pump relay, and check the lifter pump is working. If you disconnect the plug to the main pump and turn the key 1 click you should hear the in-tank pump prime.

Or, bin the lot and use the ABF managment instead.

Cheers for the reply rubjonny I was hoping you'd be along to help.

Tci-h? The bit on top of the ECU? I tried a few others that a mate of mine had laying about, Ive tried  3 different lifter pumps

ABF managment, I've been thinking of it, its my only car at the mo, and I'm not sure I can manage a full conversion, too many wires!!

ah didnt spot the lack of lead swap. for £35 its worth doing, 16vs are sensitive to duff leads :)
ABF ones are the same too so you can still use em when the abf gets dropped in

Well them fitting the ABF is a bonus, I'll get some.

As for the fuel pump relay, that's relay 2 right? i got one from GSF but it doesn't fit in slot 2.

Injectors wear out, too.

Especially on manky old K-Jet.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
