best suspention set up for mk2 16v?
« on: 11 April 2009, 15:12 »
hi im looking to change my suspention set up just wondered if anyone can recommend some good shocks and springs? and how much do you suggest lowering it by?
the car already has coilovers on it,cant remember the make think they came from venom but find them a bumpy drive but does handle very well.

the best for the road imo is the koni top adjustables/eibach springs. handles well and isnt too bad over bumps (feels like oem compared to those cheap coilovers). they arent cheap though.

+1

Just for reference really..

My car runs the GT kit, remember Weitec is the smaller brother to KW so no compramise in quality & good value for your money, after trying many different set-ups this kit worked well for what I was looking for in the handling characteristics, it's also height adjustable on the rear and it's a shorter damper/rod to match the shorter springs.

Mine is the 40/40 kit, with front Bonrath top mounts, Eibach ARB's with 16v drop links, standard rear axle & front w/b bushes.

Front ride hieght set to 40/41mm, camber 1 degree negative & rear ride set to 37mm

Nose down stance has the following values

1.) Car looks right to the eye
2.) Better stability under braking
3.) Under full throttle the nose remains planted and the rear compression is down to a minimum under load

weitec kit for me too. dont be tempted to go too low. -40mm  is best. and thats rated from carb model. get them wishbones flat!

Weitec seem a good option!

I've got Koni adjustables and Eibach springs.
Really sharpens up the handling

Both very good, the Koni/Eibach set-up has the additional ability to adjust the damping, the Weitec is an all in one setup spings/dampers by one company with shorter shocks/rods to match the springs, you have 4 position at the back of the Weitec which can be dialed to get that nose of the MK2 pointing down but no damping adjustibility.
