wheel issue

for some reasonon my mk2 gti 8v the o/s/f wheel sticks out the arch by about an inch, whilst the nearside sits in the arch, what could be causing this? the wing is straight so im guessing its something else, help much appreciated as i dont want a £200 fine off the old bill for being "dangerous" i will get picks 2moz when its daylight.

Sounds like a shunt has damaged the rear subframe.

That sounds bad  my car is the same as squires, never really thought much off it really, my car tracks straight and has got throught mot's ect

should i be worried too lol

hmmm il have my head under it 2moro, mine also drives fine and got through mot, i only noticed recently as i changed the wheels

look at the car from the front, check if the wheels are at an angle when straight ahead. stock the mk2 should have a little -ve camber, so wheels look like this (not so angled but you get the idea):

On my GTI it had obvioulsy been kerbed and shock/bone replaced on passenger side, had loads of positive camber and looked like this:

If yours is the same that could explain it! Can just about make it out in tis pic, tho wheel is turned slightly

have you had the wheel off ?  there isnt a spacer on one side is there

na no spacers, there all the same offset to

[Ant]

And the same width, looking front on the n/s tyre seems to have a stretched look while the o/s looks square, might just be the picture though.
