Yeah, definitely some great stuff on here, spent hours already trawling through!! Best of luck with the search, update me on what you find!!

I'll get a thread started once I've got the car ... hopefully before Christmas if I'm lucky!

well i can say i've grabbed myself a mk5 GTI and i'm not disappointed yet...not too specc'd but i wanted something to tweak anyway...

Shady have a look at some of the older 05/06 plates and you'll get under 13k from a dealership with ease...i did and i got a cracking px on my CTR

The dealerships were difficult to get hold of the GTI's though and i travelled to the car as they couldn't get across to their partner dealership as people were already wanting to view.

Loving every single minute of my GTI - done nearly 1000 miles in just over a week of ownership and its a joy! Got an absolute bargain that makes me smile even more seeing how tough it seems to get hold of one now.

I have seen more bargains falling on to Autotrader though... definitely a few about if you look hard enough!

After thinking about it, it makes much more sense for me to go for a normal GTI instead of an ED30, I don't need one anyway lol! Looking at 2005/2006 GTIs, prices around £9K on Autotrader with some good specs as well! Mileage are random but most I looked at are about 30 - 40K.

Looks like I'll be going for a normal one then, now to decide on which colour, most likely black.

good lad shady pioneers you wont be disapointed mate and yes dtea gti so much better than my ctr in every way i hated the whining vtec and having to nail the back out of it to have any fun but in the gti its go go go from 2000rpm onwards in almost any gear, cant wait to go revo or bluefin now just need a few more coins first though lol

shady if you can get a dsg box...and go for leather if you see it...the bolster on the mk5 i reckon will be worn by around 70,000 as they are such a snug fit, my father-in-law to be can only just sit comfortably

Save some pennies for the BBS, chip, coilovers, and paint the sill's etc and what are you missing from the ED30

And if you do let us know what you get
