I'm pretty sure in 1970 they thought the same about poo brown :)

I love Candy white, think it looks great on a lot of cars, but would be afraid that its a fashion fad and won't age well. But cars and their colours are personal choices, so doesnt really matter!

I take it back! Perhaps in certain cars they are timeless. But will the MK5 be a classic in the sense that the MK1 and MK2 are today?

Had a REALLY interesting conversation with a dealer yesterday (;) ) - talking about mk5 residuals etc....

He was saying that the mk5 gtis are selling in most cases before they've even entered the dealership
This is what's putting the prices up at the moment. So if you want a GTI, you've got to move frighteningly quick.

Asking about the mk6 gti, he said that SO much depends on how good it is, as its got a lot to live up to. The issue of the mk7 is NOT going to get people thinking about skipping the mk6 - it's too far off.

However, his grounding comment was that if you get into the habit of waiting for the next best thing, you'll never have anything!! LOL!!

With the mk6 coming out very soon, the mk7 won't be out I(gti-wise) for at least 3 years.

In which time, most people will have moved on to a new car within that time frame anyway.
:)

DAn (much more positive after his conversation with a VW dealer ;) )

I was told yesterday when I went into my local stealers that we wont be seeing the MK6 GTi until next year. Seems a little too far away to me?

I've only just joined this forum so trying to get used to everything on here!! I can confirm exactly what you've said. I've been trying to get hold of a GTI for ages, only just managed to secure one that had only just arrived in the dealership. Was in there less than 24 hours and hadn't even gone through any checks etc. So yes, hard to get hold of! Just waiting painfully for DVLA to sort out the transfer from the private plate before it can be taxed for me to collect :-(

Cheers Dan,

I'm sure I'll be scouring this site for lots of expensive additions to the GTI!

Definitely gotta laugh ... just when you think you've got one, the good old DVLA try to stop you from having it lol

You still looking for a GTI then?
