Had a REALLY interesting conversation with a dealer yesterday (

) - talking about mk5 residuals etc....
He was saying that the mk5 gtis are selling in most cases
before they've even entered the dealership

This is what's putting the prices up at the moment. So if you want a GTI, you've got to move
frighteningly quick.
Asking about the mk6 gti, he said that SO much depends on how good it is, as its got a lot to live up to. The issue of the mk7 is NOT going to get people thinking about skipping the mk6 - it's too far off.
However, his grounding comment was that if you get into the habit of waiting for the next best thing, you'll never have anything!! LOL!!

With the mk6 coming out very soon, the mk7 won't be out I(gti-wise) for at least 3 years.
In which time, most people will have moved on to a new car within that time frame anyway.

DAn (much more positive after his conversation with a
VW dealer
