Turbo is easier because you dont have to make a drive off the engine.

Not exactly a bolt on job as you have to change the exhaust flow to power it!
Plus the plumbing to air intake etc.

Anything is possible my friend. an 8v can be turbo or supercharged but is it really worth it? As its been said many times before, a very heavily modified 8v will be on the same level as a standard 16v, so its better to start with a 16v then modify it. a supercharged 8v will put out about 170-190hp (my prediction) but a supercharged 16v will put out well over 200 horses.
Its your money and your car, so do what you want with it. Im dying for a boost car especially supercharged but im gonna hold off until ive got a decent engine to supercharge, no point in doing it to my 8v.

I agree if you want huge power the 8v is always gonna come up short! My route would be to convert to 20vt power! The boost will be there and it has huuuge potential for power!

the 20v 1.8t is the easiest conversion (as there's lots of specialists and parts avalible), then again I wouldn't turbo the 2.0 8 or 16v as both would require some substantial head, piston work for reliability.

my fave would be a properly supercharged 8v as the low down torque would be  ok so 160-190bhp (depending on charger, pulley and chip) isn't much but diesel ammounts of torque would be fun without the soot or noise!
(the yanks are running around 220bhp with engine work......16v killer )
