I did ask the question on here and on ed38 about the gap and was told it is normal with coilovers, went straight through the mot no issues, car is still running the same gap now and has been like it for over a year so I think it is ok and nothing to worry about.

Is it also normal for the top plate to move when you turn? Also the nut only just goes on with a mm or half a mm or thread on top.

No the top plate should not move, I think you may have put them together wrong.

See what I mean about the gap, I'll check tomorrow to see if I have my plate move when turning it for you. Doesn't sound right mind you  :huh:

Are the VR6 mounts different to the early & late model GTI ones? Its just I've got both of these.

Part number 45737 - STRUT TOP MOUNTING   G3 VR6 1/92 >12/97    Thats required?

I got those based on wayned's recommendation and had no problems since the being on in Jan. :)
