....

It's not just Monza's that suffer from white worm - These were on a friend's Mk4 GTI and he'd only had them a short while but it started immediately after the snows and road salts.

Ouch !!

The wheels i'm looking to buy (there second hand OEM's) already have some white worm on them, also the seller tells me theres a deepish scratch on one of them. I guess if its too deep then it will not possible to have the surface re-cut and a complete powder coated colour will be the only real option.

How much of the diamond cut surface do refurbishers skim off anyway?

Just got 2 of my 18" Monza II's replaced by the dealer yesterday under warranty

Both rear wheels has just started to corrode (fronts absolutely OK so far).

Dealer examined them last Thursday and ordered/replaced a new pair no problem. Car is now 31 months old and looking pristine again

Benefit of paying top dollar for a UK car with a 3 year warranty

I couldn't agree more about the warranty etc, but what will you (and others) do when it happens again after warranty?

It's all down to BBS in my opinion - It's such a well known issue and just hasn't been resolved.

I suppose that's when you get them painted RR!!

I'll be doing mine smoked chrome when the time finally comes, although the four new ones I've got under warranty are being very well protected with poor boys wheel sealant at the moment.

Very good point RR and it's something I'm thinking about when renewing my warranty in September. Might have to sell the GTI and get a new one before then
