Stopping boot rattle
« on: 24 March 2009, 19:32 »
Hey guys,

When i turn up my stereo, the sub obviously turns up as well, but even with minimal bass, the boot starts to rattle and sounds crap!

Any idea on stopping it? My mate mentioned sound proofing blocks or something the other day but I cant get hold of him to ask :(

Cheers!

But what exactly is rattling? The sub? I assume its in a box!
How is it secured?

More input!

it wont be the sub itself thats rattling, it will be the boot lid. u need to strap the boot. either with a proper boot strap or by moving the latch for the boot down a cm or two, then wen the boot ltches it will be closed tighter  :nerd:

It's the actual boot lid mate, if I open it up there's no rattle and the rattle can only be herd outside the car :/ it's where the boot isn't tight enough as Yuley said but I've tried making it tighter to no avail :(

Ill have a look into sound deadening I guess but need something to put around the join I think :/

How about replacing the the rubber seal strip then?

Probaly have to order it from a Dealers but going on what a door seal rubber cost me it wont be mega bucks! I'd guess around £20.

i get this same problem
but one of the back panels moves alot
the one that is on the opposite side to the fuel cap
it moves about an inch, and rattles an awful lot
the only problem is i cant get to the back of it to sound proof it because i cant find the clips for the body panel on the inside
any ideas?

Cheers guys, it seems to be the actual boot lid itself rattling, nothing inside the car :/ going to try Yuleys idea again, and take it from there but im pretty sure its as tight as it will go :undecided:
