on fwd they just bite 50 bhp later than on syncros  :sad:
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

internally 020 boxes are all the same in terms of strength, if anything 16v is a bit stronger due to larger input shaft but its hard to snap one, tho danny managed it :grin:

all the gears & diff etc are the same strengths though, if you want piece of mind an 02a box with bolt kit is the way forward.

02a's have riveted diffs as well? how sh!t!

a ported and cammed valver 2.0 will eat diff rivets if you drive it like it should be driven

I'm starting to get the fear now :undecided:

Well if you gonna go 2.0 with ported and polished head i would do something with gearbox as i have a 1.9 8v gti engineering mk2 golf and i have just gone through my fifth gearbox. So now have got another gearbox coming.
i was told the 020 rod box was supposed to be a strong box,how wrong are they 5 and counting on my mk2. Hopefully the quaiffe box will last.
