Their boat has sailed.
Currently digging a bunker.

^^^^^ murder it in one gear maybe over 20 meters but you soon run out off breath at 4500rpm gti fly past you . Not the quite same but i had edition30 (standard) and i destroyed plenty 330d (the latest 330  08 on which have more power)

Not my experience mate, but each to their own, the ingear pull of the diesel is not matched by the GTI, GTI accelerates quicker than the 325 from standing start, but where the torque is used by most drivers ie overtaking, then the diesel engine has much more to play with, anyway for a shopping trolley it suits the wife. (and yes it is the more powerful 3l 2008 engine)
How can yours be the more powerful latest 08 engine, its a 325 3 litre 197bhp, the more powerful 330d 08 engine still 3 litre increased to 245 bhp and like i said over a short distance. A 197 bhp 2 ton car v a 197bhp 1.38 ton car from 20mph to 90 mph, i know which car id bet on, the bmw prob faster over very short distance.
edit 1.61 ton car v 1.33 ton car. my money still on golf

If we are talking about a std gti v 330d (08) then the bmw will have it hands down all day every day.

no kentbladeboy was on about is 325d which is a 3 litre diesel 197 bhp v standard gti, he was claiming its the faster newer spec engine but that is a 330d also 3 litre but 245 bhp. i was on originaly about my ed30 v 330d, but im saying a standard gti v 325d will beat 20 mph - 90 mph as its a more fair comparision of thru the gears acceleration

Well thats what the Beamers for getting the shopping, your correct on the power its a ED 325D at 197HP, but just to end the confusion about either your ED30 or R32 from standing start or in gear, I think my 360 horses in the M3 will probably have enough in reserve to end that argument. Guess thats the difference between a performance orientated car and a real performance car.

Fair to say some of us have never grown up
