Recommended online retailers
« on: 23 March 2009, 11:49 »
I need to get the standard stereo out of my new Audi and install the Sony HU I already have, so I'm trying to find the cheapest place to purchase:
Audi/VW headunit removal keys
ISO - Audi loom/harness
Facia Plate

Obviously I've looked in Halfords, but they want £29.99 for the ISO loom alone.
Can anyone recommend a retailer that might stock all of these things cheaper ?

does your audi have an amplified system and what year is it
if not then you wil not need an iso adapter

That is/was one of the issues. The guy in halfords was completely useless (no surprise there) and I haven't had time to go to a specialist.

It's an A4 Avant T reg/99 model and the options code says: 8RN = 8 speakers (active). So presumably not amplified and not BOSE.
So maybe I'm right in thinking I can just plug right in without a harness adaptor ?

I'll still need the removal keys and facia plate though.

i can get the h/u keys and facia adapter
facia part number FP-05-00 £9.99
audi h/u keys £6.99
postage £4.25
just because it says 8 speaker does not mean it is not amplified as audi offered 3 options
amplified front PC9-404 £15.00
amplified rear PC9-401 £24.99
fully amplified PC9-408 £34.99

Surely though, the option code would be different if it was "half amplified", "fully amplified" or "BOSE system".

So, apart from pulling the stereo out (which I can't do till I get keys) is the best option to call Audi to find out what I need ?

Looks like it's active as opposed to passive as the option code for passive reads: 8RM = 8 speakers (passive).

Thanks for the offer, sadly I won't be there.

Gotta love this forum though, posted the same issue on another forum, got nothing in 5 days.
