My Alpine Stereo
« on: 20 March 2009, 01:43 »
Hi all  - just bought the standard requirement for any car - an alpine stereo - but as its my first one i have a question. There are connectors at the rear of the unit which fit the car leads - however i can not see one for the aerial - i am gonna have to feed the optional wire through the glove box for the ipod but want crisp clear radio as well . advice?

have you not read the installation manual it will show you the aerial connector in there
alpines have an iso style aerial connector it looks almost like a phono/rca plug
it will be a black lead coming out of the h/u

Have just been to the car to install this unit - however there is more drama.... i connected the adaptors to the leads in the car - expecting the lights to flash up on the hu but nothing - there is no sign of the h/u having a pulse - what could this possibly be. i cant live without any music for too much longer - need help.

check that the live feed is present in the harness from the car... did your old stereo work before fitting this one? have you checked the fuse in the fusebox and also the fuse on the back of th H U?

where do i check the harness for a live feed? - the previous owner took out the stereo before i bought it and so i haven't had any sounds for a lifetime - the fuse situation - the hu is a brand new alpine cde-101r - fresh out of the box so i guess the fuse is ok- in reply to the other thing i haven't checked the fuse in the car- would that be in the car fuse box or the one on top of the battery?
