so while changing my ball joints, i slipped and dropped the caliper causingit to leak.
no worry, they were all bubbling anyway, and i had a set of goodridges.
the osf solid line needed replacing , no worries as i had all the bits and tools. the other 3 pipes to the calipers i just put new unions and flares.
i didnt however bother touching the under beam hoses. they seem in good condition with no blistering.

so came the bleeding. handbrake cables off, bias valve clamed open. a litre of dot 4 through each corner in the correct order with the eezibleed, then repeated with the 2 man method. all seemed to be going well.

with the engine off, a good firm pedal. as soon as the engines on, long spongey pedal. handbrake on, engine on, soft pedal, pump a few times, good pedal.  whats going on! im the brake bleeding master!

You have a master cylinder issue, might be on its way out or you have air trapped, could also be the servo unit failing.

i fitted all new brakes on mine and new lines, clamped the bias valve and pressure bled twice. probably about 2L of fluid! was pure stuff coming out. i have a really dangerous pedal.

although i did notice the pedal felt firm with the clamp still on the bias valve? ive got a 22mc to fit so ill try again. sorry to jack the thread but if anyone knows a tried and tested bled method im all ears.

Rereading this, if your having to pump the pedal to get a firm pedal then you have air somewhere in the system.

handbrake cables were the last thing to go on. so i pumped yes, to bleed the brakes. rear pads were set to 1mm gap as per bently/haynes
