try and find twin downdraft carbs for an 8v though! Rare rare and really rare to find, so you are best with a crossflow head, and like damnny says, its just too hot for dcoes that are sat directly above the exhaust manifold. The only kinda way around it is the dreaded bonnet scoop to force enough air down over the carbs and this will also reduce the exhaust heat effect- but it will look very scooby. You will also need to ceramic coat the manifold and lag the downpipe. 8v's are not suited to sidedrafts and thats why there is so much slagging off of this set up. They just do not produce the power that they should do.
