How many of you are upgrading??
« on: 15 March 2009, 10:43 »
I notice that in several threads people are thinking of trading in MK5's for the new MK6's??

Just wondering who as actually seriously considering trading in their MK5 for the new model - whether a standard or a GTI MK6?.....

Is it really the best time to be trading in, with the recession and all? Also, why would anyone bother? Just so that they have a newer car??

I don't think I would bother upgrading to a standard mk6 gti.  From what I've heard its only 11 bhp more than the mk5 and much the same suspension etc, nice interior and I like it from the outside too but thats not worth spending 20k + on for that alone .  Depending on what the R model turns out to be I might go for that though, an S3 without the arsehole image would be .  Or I might go for a Mk5 R32 - I heard a DSG at full chat a couple of weeks ago and almost did a sex wee, I didn't consider it when I got the GTI because at the time petrol was £1.20 + a litre and the road tax thing but the more I see and hear them the more I want

Personally, I'm still looking for my MK5!!LOL!! I don't like the styling of the 6 (and I'm not a fan of the 'rocco either)
The MK5 will probably be my only dip into VW ownership, maybe an R32 next ;)

I'm very pleased with my GTI, longest I've ever had a car and I'm quite happy to enjoy it for a few more years and spend money elsewhere.  I'll be tempted with a remapped mk6 GTI or a remapped Scirocco as a replacement but I think the r32 replacement will have me desperate to spend again

I still like playing about with my ED30 and so won't be trading it in. Even if I get a newer car, I'll probably just convert the MKV to a stripped out track monster

I like the idea of the Mk7.
Lighter, tighter and more nimble.

I've yet to see a Mk6 on the road.  There must be fields full of them Germany.

Seen loads of MK6's in London. Not a fan of the rear at all! Front looks like a sirocco on stilts too!

Mk5 is gone in 2 weeks, I'm going back to a mk2. I just don't get on with modern cars.

Having a car start first time without worry does get annoying, then there are the luxuries like climate control, the fact you wont die in a 30mph crash....oh wait hang on!
