  • Hello, my name is John and I'm a dub addict.
rear discs are pretty easy, stub axles n carriers off a MK2, pre87 mk2 calipers, scirocco 16v handbrake cables, sorted.  I have MK3 rear calipers (same fitment as late MK2 but better handbrake mech) and the scirocco cables are too short.  I'm hoping I can cut the rear cable tubes down a tad otherwise I'm screwed. What annoys me is the complete beam and rear brake setup came off a scirocco so it should work

pas is much trickier, mk2 rack definitly wont fit its completly different.  TSR did a kit which is expensive or there was recently someone who put up a guide on this using jap parts:

hydro hood requires all the rams and pumps, the brackets cut out of a donor car and the hood frame needs swapping also.

  • Hello, my name is John and I'm a dub addict.
if its a later cab you should alreadt have a rear bias valve, if not you need to fit one. rear discs the std MK2 GTI ones will fit right on with the above bits I listed.  MK2 GTI goodridge kit I think will fit, but I've not tried. i bought a MK1 kit and ther rear beam i bought had discs & goodridges on already!

yh i was reading up on on that link rubjonny posted up but i'm opting out of pwer steering now its a bit too much hassle

i went an loked at the car 2day and the steerin isn't as heavy as i remember i must b gettin stronger lol (weight training)  and my steering wheels is oneof them tiny d shape ones on 7 inch wide qwheels been lowered an negative camber it is surprisingly light considering so the power steering desn't matter i cna live without it lol

another question about the power hood

would i b able to use te bits from a newer model like a 91 with a power hood ?

the brakes r sorted now i now what i got to get an puttin it on should b quite straight forward

so all i got is the power hood lft to worry about lol

my cab is an 83 and has one, best to get underneath and look! its in front of the rear beam passenger side, has a big spring on it cant miss it!

can use a hood off any MK1 cabby, only real difference are the brackets for the rear screen that attach behind/next to the parcel shelf, you';ll see what I mean. just swap on the ones that are on your car :)

16v rocco cables are too short for mk3 calipers? I assume the same will apply for mk4 ones? Let us know how you solve that one chap.
And i'll throw another rubjonny type question in because I'm too lazy to go look it up  Will corrado stub axles do the job?

Yes I think so as they are the same as Mk2 Golf I believe.
