AGU engine in VW Passat...

I'm having some thoughts on a certain "upgrade" for my mk2 Golf GTI (sure it won't be too hard to guess what  ) am I right in thinking the 1.8t engine in the '97-'98 Passats is AGU?? Any other 1.8t AGU engines you guys know of??

You can get a 150, 180, 200 or 225 engine, am I right?? What comes in the Passat, or are there different ones in different..."trim levels"?? (for want of better words)

150 and 180 are in the Passat as far as I know.

Indeed and AFAIK the early ones are 150 AGU.

No ARZ is also 150. as is AUM although it has the k03s turbo.


From 98 - 2000 the engines had the k03 turbo. 150 BHP  (AGU / ARZ)

From 2000 on thay had k03s VVT  150 BHP ( AUM )

From 2002 on thay had 180 bhp (same as 2000 on with different ECU map) standard and 6 speed box. ( AUQ / AWP )


BAM is the 225 bhp 1.8T that was never fitted to the passat tho

I don' think there was ever a 1.8T with 180bhp in the Passat because they had the 2.3 V5 with 170bhp.

Correct in the pre 2001 Passat range they did the 1.8T and the Vr5 with 150bhp plus the 2.8 V6 with 193bhp, the later 2001 on range was still 150 for the Turbo but the Vr5 was upgraded to 170BHP.
