is a service due?
« on: 07 March 2009, 10:53 »
Just got a text from Arnold Clark saying I am due a service. My last service was 25/03/08 at 26140 miles.  Mileage now 34088, car is on long life servicing I think and there is no indicator showing service due. There's a sticker in my car that states next service due at 46139 miles or by 25/03/09.

I reckon whilst it's not technically due, some of you will state that it is advisable?

Or is ac just drumming up business?

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

Your car will tell you when it's due, sit in the car, put seatbelt on, turn ignition on the ignition and hold down the mileage reset button for a few seconds until the service display comes up. It will tell you how many days and miles until due

I suspect they have your car down as being on "time and distance" service.

btw why are you running your car on LL service schedule?

Maybe because some drivers don't drive like they are on the Nürburgring all the time.

Agree that the dealer may have you down as TaD but it could just be They have flagged a brake fluid service (every 2 years)

Dont listen to winrya there about checking when needs service. What you did there causes the service now to be displayed, because its the start of one of the ways to cancel service light. Check you last bill from AC, if it says you had longlife service done then its not due till next year but if time&distance then you are due now.

I thinks it's on long life service intervals...I was hoping to get to 40000 before another service then I would get the dsg service done at that time. How do I verify what service regime it's on?

Check your service book, on the front page there will be a data sticker for your exact car, that should show LL or T&D, then check your last serv bill, if LL phone back ac and tell them so to update there records.

No it doesn't.  The owners manual in the book pack clearly states how to do the 'manual' call up of the service due info on the cars computer.

Agreed, although you need to be a little careful, because many dealers still don't know the difference between longlife OILS and the longlife SERVICE REGIME.  Been there, done that, and had the arguement with the aftersales manager!
