My old Mk2 had 195/50/15 Yokohama Prada spec 2's which were brilliant in all conditions.

My new one has 185/55/15 BF Gooodrich Profiles and they aquaplane much more.

I guess it's down to the tyres.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

avon ZV3 or 5 or whatever there on now are a good in the wet as well
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

I learned this lesson with my first car - a vauxhall nova. It used to aquaplane BAD.  Fitting the best tyres I could afford solved the problem.


Just a note about Toyo's... I'm on my first set of TR1's and am NOT impressed with the longevity. I reckon they'll just about last a year, which is around 8000 miles for me.  :undecided:

there not meant to last that long.    they are a soft grip orinatated tyer.     all goes to plan  i should have killed mine by next week
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

i got 195 50 15s Poo Poo ( Ceat ) tyres on mine,

Think they are going to last thousands, cos they are rarely in cotanct witht he gorund when its wet  :laugh:
