Hi im a noob and a recent dub convert so bear with me if i am a bit vague ....

I've just bought a Fusion EN-CM650 component speaker kit which i am intending to install in my mk3 Golf GTI (3 door)
 http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_catalogId_10151_storeId_10001_partNumber_938696_langId_-1

I have read the "Dead quick tweeter build" thread and i don't think that is the avenue i want to go down, i would prefer a more "OEM" / Hidden install (also less attractive to theiving scum).

Does anybody have any advice on the best place to install / hide the crossovers so that they are out of sight ?

I was intending to install the kit in the front of the car but would it be less hassel to install this kit in the rear and just go with Coaxial Speakers up front ??  :undecided:

Any advice / guidance would be appreciated !!

Cheers

alrite buddy...wel...i find that there isnt much point in puttin components at the rear because its all phased out by the sound at the front. Perhaps for the pleasure of rear passengers in may benefit but the driver wudnt tell much v a difference. The tweeters up front are mounted into the dash...with a lil fabrication...u cud mount the new ones in place of them...but u wud have to remove any plastic housing of the new tweeters supplied if applicable in order to reduce the depth n size of it as oem tweeters are always slimmer n smaller in size unless otherwise changed before.
If i remember correctly, the tweeters are bridged off the door speakers so u could fabricate everythig from the door side without havin to route new speaker wire through the door. failing that...u cud mount the crossovers behind the dash...n use the original wire coming fromthe door speaker from behind the head unit to bypass to the crossover n that way you can leave the original wiring for the stock oem tweeter where it is n either route new wire from the fusion kit to your new tweeter up on the dash or u cud trace the wire from the old tweeter n re-use that directly into your crossover. This would then save havin to take up any room inside the doorcard as there is alredy limited space there already and the fusion crossovers are pretty big compared to a lot of crossovers...like little amps. And as you'r not plannin on puttin em on show...then theres no reason why you cannot place them behind the glove box somewhere.

Hope that helps!
Why pay big bucks when you can do it yourself???

The best place for your Xovers is in the boot really, especially if you are running them from an amp.

Short of that, in the doors or under the dash or glovebox ( as said above) if you don't mind loosing it.

My tweeters are in the mirror backs, took me only a few minutes and cost a total of 0 pounds and 0 pence to do. I may be able to get a photo of them at some point but you would not even know they were there.
I will be doing some A pillar builds soon when I get my a** into gear so maybe we could sort out a swap, my mirror backs for yours! ;) mine is not a GTI and is a convertible so they would probably be different TBH.

You don't really want the tweeters in the standard position in the dash, it is far from an ideal place.
Neither do you want components in the rear of the car, its a pure waste of money.
