I loved driving over there, bigger better quality roads, and they are all empty so you can piss about doing what you like! - FTW

Dont behave like a 14 year old.... and when you're in France or any other country behave yourself, you're not bigger than the law just because you've left the empire

I love my golf, but lets get it clear, 2 adults, 3 kids under 4 and all the luggage is not going in a gti.

I managed to do 600 miles a few months ago in my 210,000 mile 1.8 MK3.  I had to go up to london from cornwall, planned to stay over night but i was up for the drive and it saved money so we did it in one go...  Didnt let me down once!  I have alot of faith in my old girl though, I never see it as a reliable car but after 210k miles the engine stick ticks over almost silently, not even the slightly faint tapping or ticking from the valve gear or anything and i usualy rack up over 1000 miles per month...   Bullet proof or what?
10 golfs and counting!

Got back last night after driving to and from Norwich to Cognac in South France in my 96 16v GTi
Car sat at 80mph most of the way  and was returning 38mpg on the way down and 36mpg on up.

EPIC, I bet the loss in mpg on the way back had something to do witteh amounto beer/wine on board!!!!

Going to France in May with the family, but I'm taking the diesel people carrier

to be fair, the drivers in mainland Europe are not as good as the UK on the whole.
