1500 Miles in 1 trip!!! Good Ol Girl!

Got back last night after driving to and from Norwich to Cognac in South France in my 96 16v GTi
Car sat at 80mph most of the way  and was returning 38mpg on the way down and 36mpg on up.
Not a single problem with the car, and twas a smooth drive.

Good to hear - how many miles has she done ??

I'm going on holiday in April and having to drive to Manchester for flights (£500 cheaper than Glasgow) but was worried about the 500 mile round trip but after reading this puts my mind at ease a bit lol.

My car is sitting on 97k and was worried she was getting a bit old !!

Don't worry, these MK3s are BULLETPROOF ha! I went to Cornwall the weekend just gone, all in all did 450 miles. The week before I drove from Yeovil to Birmingham which was a 350 - 400 mile round trip, and last year in April I drove from Yeovil to Manchester, easily 400 miles round trip, not a single problem with the car.

When I got mine, she was on 97K, since Feb last year she's sitting on 104K.

wayne - After what I've been through with mine (that 6 months oil leak and riding around a whole month with no oil) I'd say mine is bulletproof

I'm needing a small touch up for a very light patch of rust (less than half a centimetre) - do you have the part code or is it easy enough to phone up VW ??

By touch up do you mean body colour paint code by any chance?
