recaros seats?
« on: 15 February 2009, 18:55 »
i got some recaros from a rover for £26. i knew they wouldnt fit, but i didnt think the runners just bolted on. i tried to find mk2 recaro seat frames . a guy on edition 38 said i could have his for 150 . but can you just replace the whole seat base from and standard mk2 seat and the recaro ones?

thanks jack.

Recaros are proper.

Their genuine bases cost about £150 each, so £150 for a pair ain't bad.  With a Recaro and a standard G2 seat side by side it should be possible to figure how easy it'll be to set up a homemade base.  I don't think it'll be that easy as Golf2 have three mounts, so you're going to need to be reasonably cute with the fab and you'll need a base to butcher for the fabrication.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

yeah i took the g2 seat base off and had a look. it could be done with some welds but it would take time and effort to work out the angle the seat will sit.

i had a chat with recaro and they don't believe that their subframes fit OE seats... i disagree! if you get me a photo of the seat base i'll be able to see what fitting they have.

If i can work out if they'll fit, they'll be about £80 each plus postage.

I need the measurements across the base (width of the seat rails hole to hole. My recaros have the same bolt pattern-2 holes at the front and 1 at the rear, but they're at odd spacings to aftermarket seats. Problem I have is I'd like to keep my recaro seat tilt mechanism (Seats are from a BMW e24 635csi and have a handle that you push pull to adjust the front/back seat height). These are probably the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in!
