where do i start
« on: 14 February 2009, 20:08 »
right,deep breath....
i just bought a mk4 2.0 gti today and she has a few issues.
she's a 99'plate with 70 000 on the clock.she's been lowered, alot! im reckoning nigh on 50-60mm.she's got a nice set of what im sure are audi rims.i'll post pics soon.

on full lock the drivers side screeches/whines,im thinking cv joint?!not sure.the front end of the car feels almost like it's knackered.it feels lazy, make sense?my guess is that the front bushes are shot.there's no arch rub, have no idea how its not rubbing as the boots she's on are huuugge.

the sun roof will tilt but wont slide either.thats just the start of it ( he says sobbing on the laptop) alot of the other stuff involves me a bag of spanners and a friendly scrappy that doesn't mind me sleeping there :)any info will be greatly appreciated.

my hope is one day she will be a minter, but damn have i got a long way to go to achieve that!

Maybe the driveshaft rubbing as it's been lowered over 40mm.

will most prob be the driveshaft rubbing as anything lowered over 50mm may/may not rub on the front arb so look at replacing front arb/droplinks

Easy to check, put steering on full lock. Check drivers side driveshaft for a mark around it. Only rub's on drivers side due to large diameter driveshaft. ARB 'hoop' will be within an inch of driveshaft probably.

Mine rubbed like a cheap pair of speedo's until i got a new ARB. Don't try using adjustable droplinks, there crap. Instead buy the whiteline front ARB from balance motorsport. It is the only bar designed to go under the driveshaft and completly eliminates the problem

If it's to low the lower arms will rub too but i doubt your that low!
