Sub/amp wire up
« on: 08 February 2009, 11:47 »
Just wireing up my sub and amp into my new mk2, I cant remember where the last cable goes, theres the red power cable, the earth, the ones the sound travel thru(can you tell that I dont know what im talking about :p )  theyre all in the right place, and theres another thin blue one thats supposed to attach to something on the back of my head unit...but I cant remember where,

its a sony head unit and the only thign I can remember about last time it went in is that my mechanic first wired it wrong and my sub only worked with the radio and not the CD player etc,

I can take pics if it helps...

anyone got any idea what im on about?

thats the remote ignition wire (to turn the amp on with the head unit) there will be a connection on the back saying 'remote' or something similar.

be careful though, if it actually is the remote areal switch then you will get the problem you mentioned in the first post, sometimes. You want the remote switch, they often look very similar. one will be blue and one will be blue with white stripe, usually.

you are best off doing as suggested a few posts up from here and testing with the CD playing before you refit it all or make a proper connection.

Thanks guys, it was that one, on closer inspection it actually did say "remote amp power on"  or something liek that, works perfectly now :)

Thankies :)
