Any other symtpoms of bad timing RJ?  Idle and power are excellent at the mo.

the setup is free to try though, spin it over by hand to verify top n bottom timin marks line up. then warm the engine and hold revs at 2.25k with blue sender off, check the big flywheel diamond lines up with the arrow on gearbox casing

How do you spin an engine by hand?

spanner/socket on the cam sprocket bolt, take the spark plugs out 1st and it will spin over easy.

I dont think it would be the timing on mine as its jsut had a new cambelt and the timing was done then, its going to garage on tuesday becuase of knocking suspension so im getting them to have a butchers then

ah but was the timing done properly, digifant is picky about how you do it. quite a few garages are ignorant of this and just set it up like they do old carby/k-jet cars.  which doesnt work.

Yeah you could be right there, was a vw specialist but il ask them to check it aswell, thanks
