« on: 25 January 2009, 19:50 »
Things go from bad to worse the more i move about the car. My queiry is this I have the interior out and between the rear seats and the boot on the drivers side there is a large black circular bit of metal with wiring disappearing underneath now iam sure on another golf i have seen the same thing but minus the wiring, so whats the wiring for and can it be relocated? thanks in advance.

Yeah, 3 screws, its for the lift pump in the fuel tank. There should be 3 wires going to it IIRC, the fuel pump ground, 12v and gauge resistance wire.

You can route them elsewhere pretty easily if you want to, along the floorpan outside then up underneath the fuel tank, easy peasy.

You'll need to armour the cable and make sure its water tight, check this place out http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/ for good quality wiring bits.
