It would be interesting to do a back to back comparison on a rolling road. Failing that if you're set on installing it make sure it doesn't suck in water/moisture as not much will kill your motor quicker.

Mate, I found my induction kit just causes problems. My exhaust stinks of un-burned petrol, my Golf has the air sensor and because of the random cone filter on the end of the pipe, the ECU is getting confused and dumping loads of petrol in the engine.

Stick with a standard air box and pannel filter (K&N is the most common). Means you don't have to declare it as a modification on the insurance, it keeps your fuel economy up and gives your engine better air flow which means better response and don't over work it.

I'm no expert but spoken to many people and all say the same thing as that.

engines like moisture  just not too much

Fair play, but i was meaning more if it sucks up a puddle and fills the cylinders with water.

Should be fine. Even if it does then just a minor bit of TLC and you'll be back to normal, lol.

I just discovered another problem with my induction kit. Because of the way it's mounted, it's not getting a lot of air, which in turn has caused the engine to burn off it's oil, i've now realised that it's dropped from minimum to almost half way down the rest of the dip stick!

New filter and fresh oil today me thinks, maybe some flush too. Hope the big end hasn't gone, but there is a suspisious noise coming from that way. Keep a look out for a new post along the lines of "big end gone, what now?" LoL!

LoL, not yet. Changed the oil and it's running better today. Still a bit smokey through the exhaust but the noise isn't big end, water pump is noisy I think and maybe the tap heads need some attention. The old oil wasn't grainy so the big end's not be chewed away.

Just need to get that air box on it now, it's still running rich as hell, bit less with the fresh oil in it. :-)

Best of luck with the diagnostics. I'm not doing anything with my car until it gets above 0 degrees, that includes washing it....
Or at least until I find out about this lock up....
