intermittent fault
« on: 24 June 2004, 13:16 »
8V Mk2 GTI 170K
I have an intermittent fault where if i am sitting at about 3000 rpm
5th or 4th gear and I ease off the accelerator and go into overrun, the car jerks violently as though the accelerator is being stamped on and off quickly. If I then go to accelerate there is no response for about a second then the car picks up and goes??
Coupled with this I have noticed if I drop out of gear while travelling the revs are racing about between 1000 and 3000 or sit constantly at about 2800, then gradually die down to tick over!!
Whats the problem and are the 2 symptons linked.
Any help greatly appreciated .

Carlos ???
