And it begins...cambelt went on the motorway :(
« on: 21 January 2009, 20:18 »
Luckily managed to get onto the hard shoulder from doing 70 in the fast lane. Turns out something has dug into my cambelt while it was going around, and perforated it in 2. This in turn has bent valves, so gotta get it sent off and head skimmed  gonna be out 'til the weekend earliest. Joyous

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

Yea, a couple years in the future, when I have some no claims, a VR6 swap maybe called for.

Dave: yea I'm being serious. There was no wear on it, 'cause obviously you had it changed end of 2007, f**k knows what happened.

That even if the cambelt snaps, the pistons don't make contact with the valves. Which means, set timing up, pop a new belt on and away you go.

I didn't think you had to skim the head either, even if you bent valves?
