How can i get more BHP out of my mk3 2 lt 8v

Have myself a little 2lt 8 valve mk 3.. wonderin if anyone could advise me on how to get more power from it. got it fully tuned recently which made alot of difference it had a little miss when i bought it.
Help greatly appreciated

Not alot on them mate just the usual exhaust and induction sorted could get a cam but aint really worth spending loads tuning that
Golf SOLD. Replaced with a Yamaha Raptor 660 quad and loving it. This will be replaced in August with a Raptor 700. Sold the quad now got a Vectra GSI 2.5 V6 and its the nuts.

Brands Hatch massive. MEMBERSHIP ACCEPTED!

I agree....exhaust and filter is best you can do.
(if you have ££ then you can go for cam's,head work etc but spending £2000 will only give you about 15bhp!).. Some people here are looking at superchargers for the 8v and I guess you'll get 160bhp if you are good with making things?

ditch the stock ECU, fit somethign mappabale

then you can start maodifyign the enigne,    boost is cheepest way if want more than 30 extra ponies 
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

as boneybradley mentioned above, get some head work done, a standalone ecu, and some weight saving, that would be your best option, unless you get a few quid for super charger or turbo conversion in which case the skys the limit

ok ok lads iv gota 8v anni (p reg) n i blew my m8 hu had 16v he couldnt catch me n thats with stainless back box removed rear silence so str8 pipe from cat to bk box n a direct air intake from under fog lyt on a standard air box  :smug: n thats all. his was standard n i fort that 16vs wer more faster on long runs, but i had a bass box in the back to n my rear suspension is mashers. but ye 16v stick a turbo on it n ur happy

the 2ltr  16v in the mk3 is one hell of a good engine,  if you blew that off in an 8 valve his engine is very ill.
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

I dont see why people bother with this, its just beyond me. Why shell out loads of money on a SC to get 160bhp when you could just sell the, imo, gutless 8v and get a 16v with 150bhp ? Makes no sense. Do the usual jigery poke on the 16v and you have yourself a reasonably quick car.
