the annis with tyres only weigh 2kg more each than the monty2s- an extra 8kg all round wouldnt reduce economy by 10mpg surely?

doubt it - as long as yout tyre pressures are good and the car is regulalry serviced i can't see it taking that big a hit - guess i'll find out in a few weeks

yours is the 130 remapped init so it might not be as bad but it will be abig hit in proportion... co z i regularly service mine and its in good nick but i was shocked... but then again am not too disheartened coz the looks and grips are second to none probably just slow down a bit instead.

mine was on 80K when i had it mapped and replaced the clutch at 85K

Budget £900 as putting a standard clutch back in is a pointless exercise

the limit 

70 mph on cruise, obviously if I hit stop start traffic this drops to about 44-48 but on a clear run 48-52

i'm on a green cotton filter and cruise

right i think am cool then coz if i drive it at a constant 70mph then ill get around 48  but i so used to drivign at 80 and getting 50mpg that when ave been doign it with ma 18s on the drop was so big and i thought huh thts weird...

ordered a new maf anyway from vw see if it makes it any better... but i guess the general consensus is that at 80 ish expect a drop of aroudn 5mpg atleast!

ridg: whats teh benefit of the green cotton filter as a pposed to normal vdub filter i take it this is air filter .... any ideas where from and price? or is it the same as the oem vw dub filter?

Personally I see no reason why you should be exceeding the speed limit in the first place, all you've doing is putting yourself and other road users at risk, and costing yourself more money, and for what a couple of minutes saved?  for example if I drive at 70mph it will take me about 40minutes to get to work, if I drive on the motorway @ 80mph I'll save 2.5 minutes, I'd rather keep my licence and get a few £ in my pocket.

other than the affect the rims have had on your MPG why do you think you need a new MAF?

an after market panel filter, will allow a greater air flow, than the standard one, which means that it's easier to satisfy the demands of the MAF, whilst the VW is more than good enough, an after market one lasts longer (assuming you clean it properly when you're meant to) can give a better throttle response and improve the MPG whilst cruising.

hmmn not sure how u worked them timings out but driving at 80 is hardly putting other road users at risk especially when the average speed of driving is around 75 to 80.

i know what u mean though but 70 just sees to much slower than 80.

dunno why i want to change the maf thought it might improve it slightly......even before the rim change my mpg was a bit down  the car doesnt have any judders or flat spots etc it does drive smoothyly but the new maf mite help?

you are wasting your money mate - your mpg will be down because of the colder weather like previously mentioned

cancel your order and spend the money on something else
