reverse lights hmmmm why they not working???

i had both reverse lights out so i bought two new bulbs from halfords took the covers off and fitted the new bulbs 1 didn't even have a bulb in lol neways i plugged the plugs back in and tested them but they don't work?? all the other lights work fine and couldn't see any wires missing to the main plug?? can anyone shed any light on this problem for me?

check the reverse light switch on the gearbox the wires break connecting to the switch. Also check the fuses

where are both of them on my mk 4 cause only just got the car

reverse light switch is next to the starter motor on most 1.8 t some can be at the back of the gearbox nest to the diff on older cars. check the fuses in the fuse box on the right hand side of the dash when you open the door.

Are you sure you have changed the right bulbs sounds like you have replaced the fog light bulbs? MK4 golf only has one fog light - and one bulb fitted.

Are you sure you have changed the right bulbs sounds like you have replaced the fog light bulbs? MK4 golf only has one fog light - and one bulb fitted.

Its the bulbs at the bottom nearest the boot ( not the outside of the car) if that makes sense!

Just line up the circuit board next to the lenses, & find the ones which the clear glass would cover!

yeh definatley the reverse light cause just tested all the other one's? spose next thing is in the morning the fuse's??
