Help - fuel line eaten by rats
« on: 13 January 2009, 17:13 »
Please help folks. Fuel lines (flow and return) were eaten by rates in my garage over Christmas. I cannot get replacements anywhere, despite having tried Find-a-part. VW have stopped making these parts. Does anyone have any suggestions or is anyone breaking a 1990 8v GTI?
Thanks.

if its the flexi type pipes ( very similar to vac hose kinda ) then go to halfords or a motor factors you just buy it in lengths.

Thanks, but I am told that the main lines are more substantial than this and need to withstand a high pressure.

Its dealer only, I bought a new fuel pipe not that longer ago from the dealers. Are you 100% sure they don't do it?

The pressure depends on if its K-Jet or Digi, Digi's run a much lower pressure so you can get away with generic fuel line and clamp it on to the existing pipe starts/ends. K-Jet on the other hand, fat chance, the pressure will blow it off, unless you can make a really solid connection.

Mechanic tells me cannot get through dealer. How do I know whether K Jet or not?

Is anyone breaking an 8v?

K-Jet has braided fuel lines going to the injectors from the airbox, Digi doesn't. Look at my dub thread, look at the engine pics, I'm a K-Jet ;)

Thanks for that. I think mine must be a Digi looking at your photos. You reckon they can be joined then?

1990 is digifant   its only at 3 bar as opposed to k jet that's nearer 6 bar
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
