clutch problem?
« on: 11 January 2009, 21:17 »
Hello guys,

something weird happened to my clutch the other day. I went to get in the car and the clutch was wedged right to the floor! I find it hard to believe that I wouldn't notice this when getting out of the car after driving it as you always feel it springing back up into place when you take your foot off. I had to pull it back into position before I could drive it. Is there any chance it could have done this by itself over night? Could it be something to do with the cold weather? Could it have frozen? It seems to have been fine since, although I do sometimes struggle to get it into 1st gear.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,

Gem

get the master cylinder and slave cylinder checked out - you could be loosing pressure  :undecided:

you have a master cylinder for the brake and clutch system - the seals inside can fail leading to loss of pressure

the slave cylinder sits on top of the gearbox and can experience the same problem

is your brake pedal ok?? or is it just the clutch pedal you've had a problem with?

ive had the same problem before, i was sat at the traffic lights and then i couldnt get my gear into first. I thoght o dear gear box nakered.

So i called out the AA but while waiting i noticed that clutch pedal was a not fully retracted, so i put my foot under it and it sprang back

So everything was ok, never done it since, i wouldnt worry unless its doing it alot or often. Sometimes like all things, things dont work

properly. might be a one off like me
