Retro fit foldong mirrors
« on: 09 January 2009, 14:06 »
I have a 2008 R32 and would like to have folding mirrors (for when I put her in the garage, its a bit tight!)

Can this be retro fitted? If so where and how much?
2008 R32 DBP gone. 2008 GT TDI going 2009 GTI coming soon!

Assuming your wiring harness has the necessary connectors (it may not), you will also need at minimum, a new the mirror switch in the drivers door and access to vag-com for re-coding.

Haven't got a clue on how much it'll cost.

I think it will cost far too much to justify the extra 2cm clearance you get at both sides when the mirrors are folded. I have the foldy mirrors on my R32 and simply the MK5 Golf foldy mirrors are a joke. They dont even fold in full for a start let alone give you much more room either side. Unless you can do it for under 100 quid I would forget out it. My opinion of course.

they are alright for checking out if your hair is in place  only when parked tho dont do this when driving people lol. no but seriously they dont fold in very much at all, in fact they dont look like they are folded in sometimes but when i was looking for a new car it gad to have them for the reverse activated auto tilt to kirb mirror, makes parking more accurate and easy but also helps stop kerbing the alloys

So true, when I showed my brother the folding wing mirrors on the Gti he just laughed and demonstrated his mirrors on his 8 year old lexus is200. much better movement and more space saving. not worth getting it on the gti/r32 due to the limited movement and space saving.

I have footwell lights but pretty sure I don't have the lux pack (certainly don't have the folding mirrors anyway)
