knocking noise

hi guys bit of a problem......
ive just gone through a few of the other posts but nothing seems similar to what im getting


i hear a loud knocking noise when i pull away pretty much every time in 1st and sometimes in 2nd.....

ive had a mate check the balljoints and he says theyre fine im waiting until monday to take it to kwik fit to make sure it aint the exhaust or when i get the clocks back in!lol

is there anything else i need to check for? thanks guys

As above. Check the front engine mount, then check the CV joints, although the CV joints will be more noticeable on full steering lock. Ball joints will be more noticeable on a rough road, gravel or over speed bumps.
Once you have discounted the above, look at thefront shck mounts. if the upper bearings are worn and dry, you will get some degree of knocking too!

thanks guys ill have a look into it on monday when im not working!!! will keep you posted

while im not doing it until monday..... anyone else got any more suggestions lol keep me busy on monday :smiley:



just come to think of it I ONLY GET ONE KNOCK!!!!!!!

I woudn't trust Kwik fit to put air in my tyres.  :angry:

Strut top mounts...I had the same problem, went through replacing engine mounts etc...turned out the top mounts were knackered....cheap fix as well  :smiley:

taken my time to reply to this one!!!

but it was the top mounts ........

just wanted to ask would it be any different if i put in g60 top mounts? relativly the same price so might aswell  :huh:

G60 top mounts fit fine and are a little more durable than standard ones.
