ive just done the nurberg ring on grande turismo 4  in an 8 valve mk3 9mins 40 secs i went of track a few times tho and i feel that in real life the track wont be so forgiving and if i could do it in under 10mins in my mk2 8v id be more than pleased.....Jezza done it in a deisel jag and some bird done it in a tranny van so theres hope for all of us....

You dont go to the ring to time yourself, as lovejoys nurburgring page says. those who go to time themselves are the ones who crash.

lol chris i couldnt remember her name let alone spell it.

yeah the um time = crash thing your right id bin it on the first lap knowing my luck just getting there would be a miricle but i think the old girls upto the challenge me to.

thing is how do you organise an event like it.  we need someone with time, internet searching skills and organisation to pull something like this of. we need a price guide on accomadation camping site etc.

and we need a load of dubbers to isgn up for it and make sure they turn up if the day came to depart and theres only 2 or 3 of us its gonna be pants.

but getting back to rods post earlier we could always ruff it all we'd need is a ferry ticket £40-£50 ,fuel will be the most money id say about £300 lap cash i think its about 20 euros a lap and accomadation in the shape of cheap hotels or a tent at the side of the road will do me id be so wasted after everyday id probally sleep in the car.
althought the condensation will be a pain in the ass.
we need good weather to i think it goes without saying nurburg ring in the wet or frost aint my idea of fun...

so we need someone to stand up and say right this is how much it will cost,   this is when were going...who's coming...bla bla bla

Sounds like you need someone who's actually done it a few times before.

Well, here are my costs for going to the 'ring, from my experience:

Channel ferry: £30 - can be down to £20
Journey fuel: £150 - 30MPG over 1000miles, based on an overall cost of £1.00 per litre
Hotel: £100 - £50 per night for a twin room, including breakfast
Evening meals and snacks: £120 - two evening meals for two people, plus bratwurst and chips etc
10 laps: £200 - 5 each driving - might not seem a lot but a total of five laps is enough for a lot of people
Fuel on laps: £45 - that's allowing 1 gallon per 12.9miles

£645 total

£322 per person, based on two people in one car.

If anyone genuinely wants someone to drag their ass out to Germany then try me......

Pay for my fuel and I'll lead a convoy trailering my Golf out there, (a working car means it will be possible to drag a broken car back, while a working car is driven back), I'll bring a set of tools and a set of likely Golf2 spares that might be needed, I'll point you at the right hotels, the right ferry terminal, show you where to spectate, where to eat, give people who want passenger laps a chance to experience the track without risking everything and generally make sure you do the whole thing properly and enjoy the weekend.

Sharpie and DannyP have been out there with me and I *think* enjoyed the weekends.

I won't book anything for anyone though - that's your look out and credit card that secures your bookings - it avoids a world of pain and pizzing about.

You'll have more fun than going to Worthsee, unless your one aim in life is to get pizzed around cars.

hold on a minute £120 for 2 meals i thought aldi's was german dont they have them over there and lidl's...

another thing 'pay for your fuel' sounds fair we could all chip in but on the down side having someone telling us what do, when to sh!t bla bla bla is a bit ott. i mean how hard can it be....
drive to dover, drive to germay, visit wolfberg museum, food shop at aldi's, do a few laps get steaming drunk, fall asleep in the car park, wake up skip breakfast, do a few laps, get steaming drunk, drive home, brake down on the ferry, then while you wait for fat aa man with a beard to turn up you can reflect on what a wonderful weekend you've had or get steaming drunk....

proper boys road trip....sorted

what we need is what diamond hell has just wrote 'the costs' hes done that' well done fella.  now all we need is a date to meet in france saying when and where,,we need a list of who ever is going and contact numbers so when we get to franch we can tic of who ever turned up and call who ever was on the list to see if there goona be there or not.
Pic a route and stick to it drive to germany convoy or not no doult the fast boys are gonna shoot of but we can catch up with them once weve past them in the ditch they've ended up in,
sort out your own ferry, accomadation etc etc then once in germany do the check again and tic of who ever made it and phone who ever didnt make it to see if they need help etc etc..then we can do the same on the return trip or you can f**k off and do what ever turns you on, but you get what i mean....simple
how hard can it be.............dave
i hope knowone takes this the wrong way and thinks im trying to be a smart ass but its just my way of thinking....

i would suggest meeting in the uk then pileing on the ferry together.     just seems easyer then,  once off the boat convoy forms and down the E40 it is

the food is good,    but beware the XXL pizza  it can be THAT BIG.     cow on hot rock is excelent as well
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Wanna do it on a shoestring - go ahead.

I was offering a way to do it to get the most driving and automotive enjoyment out of the trip.

My back ain't gonna do it on a shoestring, which is why I've listed hotel costs.

My stomach ain't gonna do a European road trip on crap food - that's missing the point.

Nor am I going to do a trip to the 'ring with a bunch of people on a mission to get pi$$ed.

Drinking and driving don't mix.  Haven't you seen the adverts?

maybe i was a bit ott on the whole getting wrecked and that....
but we cant meet in the uk if there are 50 cars going we wont beable to all get on the ferry so we meet in france.
as for on a shoe string im only speaking for myself im not gonna spend a few hundred on hotels just for a bed that some teenanger spunked all over, remember your aloud to get prozzys over there and where do most men an a holiday take there whores for the night 'back to the hotel love for as quick nosh and a spit roast' 'checkout the toe nail clippings and pubes in the bathroom'...lol...im such a twit sometimes...
anyway you get what i mean its something i wont to do with a club or something but with a reccestion and no houses being built im almost jobless so big pockets is something i dont have...so shoe string 'me' yes you and who ever else is going can do what they want as i said earlier 'get your own accomadation....
My m8 chris has got a camper so i might talk him into coming and sponge a bed for a few nights...wicked

dought there will be 50 cars and if there was  i would not want to be part of a 50 car convoy.  espectaly with them all wearing uk plates in france.
if that meany cars were to come allong  youd have to breack the convoy up at least for most of the way
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
