its suppose to be a golfball rally remember f**k france and the cops where only driving through and its not like were gonna be trashing the place and act like dicks...
remember the gumball rallys 1 of the most appealing things about it was how to stay clear of the cops it gives it that little bit more adventure.. 5 cars will be just like a sunday drive to burgerking we need at least  20 cars and about 40 people going to really have some fun in a mature manner but still just be enought to stir up some mischeif with the plod.
to be honest we cant even agree on the amount of cars that are going so how the hell are we gonna arrange a rally?
its never gonna happen is it?  im not going on some crappy drive across the gayist counrty in the world just to act like a saint everywhere i go, i want the freedom of the open road without worrying about some control freack telling me my every move and what i should and should'nt be doing if i wanted to do that id stay at home.
anyway i got 6 cars that are keen to go somewhere we were all gonna go to spain for a giggle in march but since ive spoken to my m8s about a possible rally to the nurburb ring there all keen to get on board....

50 cars my ar$e.

There'd be about five.

Most people are all mouth and no trousers.

Very much correct!

If 50 cars dont go to RR days, spring festival, e38 etc the how are 50 people going to sign up to spend 500+ driving to germany

DH knows the way of forums i see.

If you're coming to Spain, which area would you be coming to? We have a race track down here in Madrid that used to host F1 in the dim and distant past that do track days. Its quite funny as the Spanish don't know how to drive. Its a bit like wacky races! Anyway, where ever you end up, a few of us could meet up with you. Me in my G60 and another in his Jetta GTX 16v.

Plus, I have seen the Gumball 3000 pass through this way more than a few times. Don't know what they are planning this year though! Or when! :undecided:

i said 50 cars as an illistration as to why we sholud meet in france and not the uk if it was done properly theres no reason why there cant be fifty cars going at once theres about 50 people on here talking about it  so why not and seeing as this post started of as gumball/golfball rally type road trip with talkl of charitys and sponcers a couple of the guys herre seem to have gone up the wrong road and there thinking of a sweet little drive and a 30mph blitz around the ring.. the whole point of this was to create a rally of as many cars as possible but the know it alls have f**ked it up saying it isnt possble ,5o cars is stupid ,it will never happen ,the french wont like it, and we cant get drunk and enjoy ourselves coz im an old fuddy duddy with a bad back so i need expensive hotels and posh food... get real for f**k sake...
if you wanna get 5 cars togeather go with your m8's, if anyone has bothered reading from the beginning and know what im trying to say here and actually want to get togeather on mass for a proper golfball 3000 this is the place for it...

Might have known you would show up with your 'as usual' constructive comments which have now declined to name calling! This thread WAS about arranging a Gumball style rally. Now its turned a little into a slanging match because of differing attitudes, and you just had to pitch in!

Suffice to say it will take a lot of planning for that many cars to turn up. Even with all the planning we put into the photoshoot day we still only managed what, 6 cars?

I think we would need someone with great leadership skills, and a potential sponsor (GSF, ECP, BBM etc whoever) for parts, Shell/BP for fuel, maybe a TV crew and definitely 50 or more cars.

I really can't see many people splashing out £400 - £500. It's the 80/20 percentage laws init. though in this case it's more like 10/90 percentage due to the cost and time. (ie 10 in 100 people will show so 90% will drop out, whereas it's usually 20% of people drop out of parties/functions etc)

If we posted this thread in the show/events section we could get more people involved, more cars, more fun, and more chance of a sponsorship or two.

TBH, the Gumball works because of the clientel, ie, older generation with money and the cars. The MKII Golf GTI really are owned by the younger generation of whom alot are still at college or university. So money is the issue rather than the reluctance to take part. Although I suspect that more than 10 should be able to make it, but it would take some planning and a definate date to be set well in advance so that those who wish to go, can make arrangements with their respective work for the required time off.
It may also be worth contacting the venue to see if group discounts are available. The more entries, the less it costs. That will attract more people too.
As for accomodation, well DH obviously has the experience there, but each to their own. If you want to find a camp site, then go for it. If not, then hotels are the way to go and DH has the info. As long as the 'rally' goers all pitch up at the ring at the same time, it shouldn't matter who stays where and it should be a blast.
The bickering on this thread is ridiculous, and just damages the chances of a potentially, really good event.
