I think half the reason VW published an over-estimated 0-60 time for the PD150 was a political one. Whilst diesel acceptance is growing, its still not to a point where they could publish an oil burner as being quick enough to whup the (then 150bhp) spec petrol GTi, as that says as much about the petrol one as it does the diesel.
