"Rust" dot will be a speck of rail dust...very common in any newly delivered cars, and is a residue from the transport process

I think you were right... when I removed my 2 layers of wax and had a proper go at it - it came off!
The scratch on the front bumper has been noted by the dealer and I have to call and make a bodyshop appointment to have the deep scratch filled and the black section re-sprayed.  Its the size of my thumbnail... but its just annoying so I'd rather get it fixed now!

Phope... did you get a bottle of oil from Specialist?

Pabs32... I'll try and get some pics up soon - been too busy so far!  Hoping to go on a long 'break in' run tomorrow... so will maybe stop for some pics!

Cass... REJECT IT?!?! - I've been waiting 14 weeks for it!  Unless it had no engine I'd be getting whatever is wrong fixed!!  I'll follow Rhyso's advice and stick a DO NOT WASH sticker in the window!!

I did query them... but they refused to give me it!
For the sake of a £15 bottle of oil, they'll be sorry when I give them low marks for the phone survey!

Sigh...
I'm really starting to have enough already!!
I went round to pick my girlfriend up this morning as we had a day trip planned to start the running in of my car.  When I got to her house and she tried to get in (in the pi55ing rain!) the passanger door wouldnt open.  She started yelling at me thinking I'd locked it for fun - but no matter what I did, it wouldnt open from the inside or out.  The outside handle just pulls like the car is locked, and the inside one feels really stiff.  When I press the unlock button I can hear it click - but nothing happens.

I phoned my dealer who told me to try pressing the remote button twice (nah - really!) and then advised me to take it up.  After sitting there for an hour and a half they told me they'd have to order a new locking mechanism - but they werent sure if this would actually fix it - and could I take the car back up on Wednesday.

I am livid!  My whole day was ruined, and the customer service at the dealer is pathetic.  They expect me to drive 10 miles accross town in ruch hour traffic - then 10 miles back to my work to get this fixed.  This will probably take me close to 2 hours in the morning!  I'll be phoning tomorrow and demanding that they pick the car up from my work and leave me a car.  I'm also going to write a letter to VW customer services as the dealers attitude has been poor from the start and I feel completely dissatisfied with the whole process.

Bottle opener only comes if you've specced the armrest option. It should be in the drinks holder next to the handbrake. It fits in the bottom or can act as the divider for the cups.  :nerd: I think the oil coming in a leather case must be dealer specific as I got a litre of oil but it came in a sealed bag (plastic), and it was Mobile as that's what my dealer uses.

is that Mobil1??

interesting if that is indeed what your dealer uses as I PM'd TT a while back asking about whats the best oil to use for my TDI and he said anything apart from Mobil1 as apparently they LIE about their oil meeting VW spec!!!

Yes that's what I've heard too, and it is Mobile 1.

If it is Mobil 1 ESP 5w30, then you are OK, 'cause that one has been tested and approved by VW.  It is the "standard" Mobil 1 which you need to avoid like a woman on a street corner with scabbly lips!
