Just to refresh the thread....a mate dropped in today, on his way back from NI (voting business)...he mentioned that his A6 was driving him crazy with squeeky front windows...2 minutes and 5 or 6 puffs with the baby powder cured the problem!

I need to try this. Could any of you please explain exactly where I need to put the talc - I don't understand exactly where I need to place it. I would rather get it in the right place rather than need to add more and more.

Thanks

Just give a few puffs, or squirts of powder into the glass channel when the window is fully down...bring the window up to about halfway and repeat...the idea is to lubricate with talc powder, all of the channel. You might have to do it more than once...but it will work!

Let me be a smart arse for a moment...in your country, salt is used in the roads during winter, so salty spray on your windscreens and side windows is a common thing. That's why rust, among other problems are something you have learned to live with...how much salt collects on wipers, in window channels, on your vehicles undercarriage, buggers your paintwork etc? This crap (salt) is acidic, abrasive and just plain nasty...the faster you drive, the more of this  rubbish gets forced into places it shouldn't be....when the weather warms up and the salt crystals form again...that's where your noise is coming from.

Thank God, salt is banned on Bulgarian roads...coarse river sand does a much better job!!

i tried using baby powder on the window channels i got a brush and brushed the powder in the channels and littel on the top window channels..window is still squeaking..maybe im doing it wrong? what i really want to do is take the door apart and clean the channels and rubbers properly and then see what happens

That  would be a good place to start...you'll be surprised at the crud that builds up in them.
