OK, so I took a permanent live from my cigarette lighter with a snap clip, so my stereo is now working. I then noticed that my amp wasn't working, so I checked and found a blown fuse on the power lead. Then later on I went to start the car and I had a dead battery! So it got a jump and fine. Every time I have got out of the car I have got a shock and so has my mrs, and now I have blown my amp by the smell of it. Can anyone point me in the right direction please???

have you stripped the insulation off the power cable by accident, and its earthing against a metal part of the body?

I dont think so, I'm assuming that, power is getting into the body somewhere but I dont know where from as it's a new cable and there's no wire showing. I'll take it all out tomorrow and have a further look. Just gutted my amp has gone!

I'd say this. The cable you snap clipped isn't designed to take the extra current draw of a hu.

If there isn't a permanent live available in the original iso run a separate cable back to the battery.

Also the only thing I'd use a snap clip for is the remote turn on of the amp. Use insulated crimps for everything else.

Your amp. Does it have a green power light and a red protect light.
