that tutorial looks like a real ball ache, though looks easier than installing an S3 intercooler

I've taken that spot apart a few times now looking for a live/test fitting someing/etc and it's actually easy as hell. Literally just pop off the gearshift surround, undo a few screws, pull out tray, done.

Taking the ashtray out isn't the tricky bit.  The fiddly bit which requires patience is getting the actual covers off the ashtray surround and particularly the lid.  OK, if the original black plastic ones are going in the skip, then you can afford to be a little careless with them - but if you want to refit them and flog the alloy/steel ones separately when you sell the car - then you need some care and patience!  :wink:

Thanks.  You should no me by now - I certainly don't to bling - and any mods which I do actually do - must only be a positive improvement, such as intercoolers or ARBs (hence why my fog lamp grilles are closed!  :evil:  :evil:  :evil:  :evil:)
